A Change of Heart Outlaw Henry Brown tried to turn a new leaf…

Fall 1878. Twenty-one-year-old Henry Brown took a job as a lawman in Tascosa, TX.

It’s a bit of a change. He’d just finished a stint as one of Billy the Kid’s Regulators
during the Lincoln County (NM) War, where he’d been involved in several killings. In
fact, he was still wanted for two murders when he put a badge on.

But turning a new leaf didn’t work. Brown had a bad temper and was fired soon after
taking the job. The dismissal said, “He was always wanting to fight and get his mane
up.”
