Wood Hite.

Wood Hite was Jesse and Frank James’ cousin, and he joined their gang after the disastrous Northfield (MN) Raid of 1876.  It’s believed he was involved in three robberies between 1879 and 1881.

On December 4, 1881, he was hiding out at the Missouri home of Martha Bolton, sister of Bob Ford.  Hite got into an argument with fellow gang member Dick Liddil—both were attracted to Mrs. Bolton. The two went for their guns and wounded one another; Ford then killed Hite with a bullet to the head.
