Not a Chip Off the Old Block Ed Scarborough didn’t follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Ed Scarborough

Ed Scarborough isn’t as well-known as his lawman father George, who killed John Selman.  But Ed made his own mark.  He originally served as posse for his father, then became a deputy in New Mexico and an early Arizona Ranger.  He was known as tough and a good shot.

But he eventually turned to rustling and robbery—and killing, when he shot an Arizona neighbor over grazing rights. Ed was sentenced to life in prison but escaped to Mexico in 1916 and was still there in 1945.
