“One Riot, One Ranger”

bill-mcdonald-blogTexas Ranger Captain Bill McDonald is famous for the line, “One riot, one Ranger.”  But like so many notable quotes, it’s probably more folklore than true.

True, McDonald did a number of assignments alone—and he was one of the most famous and honored Rangers of all time.  But there’s no evidence that he ever said “One Ranger, one riot” or anything like it.

It is more likely he DID say another famous credo: “No man in the wrong can stand up against a fellow that’s in the right and keeps on a-comin’.”
