Ross Almost Got the Boot

Katherine Ross already had a substantial Hollywood career when she starred as Etta Place in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” In fact, she’d been nominated for an Oscar for 1967’s “The Graduate.”

But the historically-based Western almost ended her career.

Ross was an accomplished photographer and took a lot of shots on the set. One day, a cameraman was missing so she was put on the equipment—and she began focusing too much on that job. Director George Roy Hill got angry, threatened to fire her, then banned her from the set except during her acting scenes.

What do you think?
