The Deadly Cabin Many people were killed at the Brunckow place.

Frederick Brunckow met his end while trying to develop mining in southeast Arizona.  The German native claimed a mine near modern-day Tombstone in 1858—20 years before Ed Schieffelin did the same.  He built a store and cabin (photo of remains) and appeared headed to big things.

But somewhere in late July 1860, Brunckow and two others were murdered and the site was ransacked.  Mexican laborers were suspected, but they escaped across the border. Nobody was ever arrested or charged in the case.  Over the years, numerous other killings took place at the cabin.
