They Called Him Jim – Jim Masterson

James Masterson

The real lawman in the family.

When it comes to the Masterson boys, Bat has the reputation and legend. But his brother Jim spent more time as a lawman.  Over the 1870s thru mid 1890s, Jim served in Dodge City, Trinidad, Colorado, Gray County, Kansas, Colfax County, New Mexico, and Guthrie, Oklahoma. He also did a stint as a deputy U.S. marshal, and in that capacity he fought the Doolin Gang at the Battle of Ingalls. Jim Masterson died of tuberculosis in 1895.
