The unofficial start to Frank Hamer’s career.
Legendary Texas Ranger Frank Hamer got his law enforcement career started in something of an unusual way. He was cowboying on a West Texas ranch in 1905. The local sheriff contacted him, saying a horse thief was headed in his direction. Hamer took the outlaw into custody without incident. The sheriff was impressed and recommended that Hamer be appointed a Texas Ranger—which happened a few months later. And a legend was born.
