Chuck and Pat Parsons
One of our oldest writers and friend of the magazine, Chuck Parsons has passed.
It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone who has left an indelible mark on our lives. Today, we remember a true friend of the West—a person whose spirit, stories, and unwavering friendship enriched everyone fortunate enough to know them. As we reflect on their life, we honor the legacy they leave behind and the memories that will stay with us forever.
“Chuck Parsons was one of the most prolific authors in the Old West field. He wrote or co-wrote more than 20 books, many of them on Texas Ranger figures (and more than a few on shootist John Wesley Hardin). Just how many articles he wrote for Old West publications is unclear, but they must number in the dozens (and might easily exceed 100).
“Chuck was the early “answer man” for True West, taking reader queries and responding with intelligence, information and entertainment.
“But more importantly, Chuck Parsons was one of the good guys. He offered a helping hand to so many other writers in the field, providing his own research without any consideration for what that meant for his own writings.
Chuck leaves behind his wife Pat and several step-children and step-grandchildren. He also cemented a legacy that won’t be forgotten in the Old West field.”
