New Year’s 1875 found Doc Holliday celebrating at the St. Charles Saloon in Dallas, once his home base but he had moved to Denison. The revelries took a turn for the worse, however, when he traded shots with the bar owner, “Champagne Charlie” Austin. Neither man was hurt. Doc was arrested and charged with attempted murder; Austin was taken into custody by not indicted.
