Vicente Silva ran an organized crime outfit in Las Vegas, New Mexico in the 1880 and early 1890s. He covered that by putting on the appearance as a community leader and respected businessman. But things got out of hand in 1893. Silva feared his brother-in-law was going to rat on him, so he had the man killed. Silva’s wife was suspicious of what happened to her brother; Silva killed her. Finally, some of Silva’s men killed him, fearing he’d lost his mind and would soon come after them.
