Virgil Earp mostly live in the Southwest into California and Nevada. But he ended up in a grave in Portland, Oregon. Earp was married in 1860 and had a daughter in 1862, but he lost contact with his family during the Civil War. In 1898, he received a letter from his daughter Nellie in Portland. Over the next few years, she visited Virgil and wife Allie, and Earp traveled to Oregon to see her. When Virgil died in 1905, Nellie asked if he could be buried in a family plot at Portland’s River View Cemetery, and Allie agreed.
