How many men did Roy Bean, the “Law West of the Pecos” hang?

Contrary to popular belief, Roy Bean never hanged anyone. He and his friends at the Jersey Lily Saloon did stage a mock hanging to frighten a young lawbreaker. Years later, the man returned and told Bean the experience changed his life forever; he’d never gone astray of the law again.
