I read one time, but can’t remember in what book, about the good quality of “blue ice” that was available to Tombstone residents during its heyday. They used it to chill oysters and in drinks. I think the ice came from Alaska via San Francisco in the hull of ships. Can you shed any light on this?

By the late 1800s, ice was being shipped into Tombstone from Benson, Tucson, and Las Vegas, New Mexico. It is possible glacial “blue ice” could have been shipped in from as far away as Alaska.
