Cow-boy Johnny Barnes portrayed by John Corbett in the film Tombstone.

Johnny Barnes was one of the Cow-boys in the Tombstone trouble times, and he reportedly shot and wounded Virgil Earp in late 1881.  He was with them at Iron Springs in March 1882 when Curly Bill Brocius was killed by Wyatt Earp.  Barnes was also shot there, and in the movie Tombstone (where he’s portrayed by John Corbett), the outlaw dies on the spot.  But in reality, Barnes survived the encounter—at least for awhile.  Reportedly, Barnes died from complications of his wound some four years later, although that’s not absolutely certain.
