Virgil Earp passes at age 62.
October 19, 1905. Virgil Earp dies in Goldfield, Nevada at the age of 62. He had pneumonia and had been in poor health for several years. He’s best known for his time as the marshal of Tombstone, Arizona, where he was tasked with arresting people who illegally carried guns in town. And that led to the so-called Gunfight at the OK Corral. He was wounded there–and crippled a couple of months later in an assassination attempt. Virgil Earp is buried in Portland, Oregon, near his daughter and first wife.
