A shootout in Cimarron.

January 12, 1889. The Gray County War in Kansas. A group of men from Ingalls–including Bill Tilghman–go to Cimarron. They intend to get the county records, by force if necessary, and take them back to Ingalls, effectively making it the county seat. A gun battle breaks out, trapping several Ingalls invaders in the courthouse. Bat Masterson wires the Cimarron leaders, threatening to tear the town down if his brother and the others aren’t released. The guns are put down. Several men are wounded and allegedly up to three killed.
