Wild Bill Hickok cashes in his chips.

August 2, 1876. Wild Bill Hickok is playing poker in Nuttall and Mann’s Saloon in Deadwood, Dakota Territory. Late in the afternoon, Jack McCall walks up behind the gunman and shoots him, point blank, in the back of the head. It’s unclear what the motive is. McCall is eventually hanged for the murder. Hickok is laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Deadwood.
