Questionable testimony at the OK Corral hearing.

November 1, 1881. Billy Allen (real name: William A. Le Van) takes the stand at the OK Corral preliminary hearing. Testifying for the prosecution, he claims to have witnessed the walk-down and the confrontation in the empty lot off Fremont Street. Allen says the Cowboys were unarmed and demonstrated it to the lawmen, who didn’t care–and opened fire.

On cross examination, defense attorney Tom Fitch (photo) tries to reveal Allen’s shady past as a grifter and more. Allen refuses to answer several questions while the prosecution objects to others. But Allen’s truthfulness is called into question.
