Billy Breakenridge
Billy Breakenridge.

History is not always kind to people.  Take Billy Breakenridge, a Cochise County deputy under John Behan during Tombstone’s troubled times.  Movies like “Tombstone” have portrayed him as very effeminate if not gay.  The only evidence: an offhand comment from Wells Fargo detective Fred Dodge, who said Breakenridge was “a nice old lady.” It’s true that Billy never married, but there’s no evidence that he was gay.
