The story of the Bisbee Massacre.
December 8, 1883. Five men ride into Bisbee, Arizona to rob the Goldwater & Castaneda Mercantile. Things quickly go awry. The outlaws keeping watch outside open fire on various citizens. Four–including a pregnant woman–are killed. The five are caught and convicted of murder and hanged on March 28, 1884. Leader John Heath is tried separately. Because he wasn’t at the scene of the killings, he was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. On February 22, a mob took him from the Tombstone jail and lynched him.
