Burn ‘em Out Bloody Bill Anderson avenged his father’s death.

In 1862, William T. Anderson lived up to his “Bloody Bill” nickname.  Anderson’s father had been shot dead by a judge in Council Grove, Iowa.  Bill was angry that the jurist was let off on self-defense claims.  On July 2, 1862, Anderson and his brother Jim lured the judge and his brother-in-law to a store.  After a short gunfight, the judge and his kinsman barricaded themselves in the basement.  The Andersons set the building on fire, killing both men.  Within two years, Bloody Bill became a mentor to Jesse James. He was killed in October 1864.
