Justice Comes, Better Late Than Never It took 13 years to catch up with two killers.

Cherokee Indians James Arcine and William Parchmeal were near Ft. Gibson, Indian Territory in November 1872.  They came upon a Swedish traveler and killed him.  All they got was 25 cents and the dead man’s boots.

The murder went unsolved for nearly 13 years until a deputy US marshal found new evidence.  Arcine and Parchmeal were tried before Judge Isaac Parker and found guilty.  The pair were hanged on the Fort Smith gallows on June 26, 1885.
