The story of Thomas Livingston.

Thomas Livingston was one of the most interesting of Confederate guerrillas during the Civil War. In 1851, he discovered deposits of lead just west of Carthage, MO. The find made him rich, and he started several successful businesses. A few years later, he started a Missouri unit to fight in the Bleeding Kansas times. He formed an official guerrilla group in 1861. In one action, Livingston and his men attacked and destroyed the town of Humboldt, Kansas in September 1861. He continued to fight until he was gunned down by U.S. troops in 1863.
