Oakley made a name as a sure shot.

April 24, 1885. Annie Oakley (and her husband, Frank Butler) joins Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show. Already well-known, Oakley becomes internationally famous as one of the top shooters in the world. Her example moves thousands of women to take up shooting. She leaves the show in 1901 after being severely injured in a train wreck.
