Tombstone officials have decided to add another nickname to “The Town Too Tough To Die.” They recently passed a resolution calling the place “America’s Second Amendment City,” making note of the number of people who carry guns there.  Mayor Dusty Escapule says, “Tombstone became famous because of guns.”

But in the early days, Tombstone law forbade carrying firearms in the town. The famous O.K. Corral shootout started because members of the Cowboys were heeled and the Earps and Doc Holliday set out to disarm them.  At the time, no carry laws were considered a public safety issue.
