riding through snowstorm old west painting by bob boze bell
Painting by Bob Boze Bell.

After Pat Garrett and his posse successfully captured Billy the Kid and three members of his gang at a place called Stinking Springs, Garrett then requisitioned a wagon to haul the prisoners to Las Vegas. After a sumptuous Christmas dinner in Puerto de Luna, at Padre Polaco’s store, Garrett and crew pushed on. Even though it was bitter cold, Billy stood in the wagon and entertained the entourage with jokes. It was to be his
last Christmas on earth.
