Ed O’Kelley fitting end true west magazine
Ed O’Kelley.

Ed O’Kelley is known as the man who killed Robert Ford, who killed Jesse James in 1882. O’Kelley did nine years in the Colorado pen for that. But he didn’t change.

In January 1904, O’Kelley attacked Oklahoma City policeman Joe Burnett (the two had crossed paths before).  The two struggled for several minutes; O’Kelley actually pulled a gun and fired it several times without hitting the officer.  Burnett managed to grab his own gun and put two bullets into O’Kelley—one in the temple. The man who killed the man who killed Jesse James died on the spot.
