Cow-boys had their own vendetta ride…

March 15, 1881. Cow-boys Harry Head, Jim Crane and Bill Leonard hold up a stage outside Contention, Arizona Territory. They get away with about $26,000—but kill driver Budd Philpott and a passenger. The law goes after them. In June, the outlaws try to hit a store in Eureka, New Mexico Territory. The Haslett brothers, who own the place, are ready and fight back.  Head and Leonard die in the firefight. Within weeks, other Cow-boys get revenge by killing the Hasletts.
