A fake arrest almost cost Doc his freedom.

July 30, 1882. Flim-flam man Perry Mallon is arrested in Toledo, Ohio on charges of being a “suspicious character.” Six weeks earlier, Mallon had his moment of fame when he “arrested” Doc Holliday in Denver, falsely claiming to be a lawman from California. Doc is nearly extradited to Tombstone to face murder charges in the Vendetta Ride–but Colorado local and state officials (including Bat Masterson) block that move. Mallon continues his ways as a conman and newspapers soon dig up the truth. After his arrest in Ohio, Mallon spends three months in jail and then disappears into history.
