Holliday celebrated the incoming 1875 with a bit of dueling.
Doc Holliday got into a fair amount of gun play during his time—but very few of the affrays proved deadly. Case in point: Doc was celebrating the New Year on January 1, 1875 in Dallas’ St. Charles Saloon. The joyful mood was spoiled when Doc got into an argument with bar owner Charles Austin. Both grab their guns and fire; both miss, badly.
Holliday was acquitted of attempted murder. Austin was not charged. Doc took the opportunity to leave town.
