The distant relationship of Billy the Kid and his step-father.

William Henry Harrison Antrim is best known as the step-father of Billy the Kid. But he really wasn’t much of a father figure. Antrim was frequently away from home, looking for gold or silver at the latest strike. Even while his wife Katherine was sick with tuberculosis, Antrim was rarely around. When Katherine died on September 16, 1874—and her funeral was held the next day—her husband wasn’t present. And when that happened, Antrim refused to have anything to do with his step-sons.
