John Blevins

John Blevins lived to tell the tale…

John Blevins had a particular distinction—he was a survivor of an 1887 shootout between members of his family and Sheriff Commodore Perry Owens in Holbrook, Arizona. Blevins took a bullet to the shoulder, but three others were killed. Afterward, Owens took John into custody, although no charges were filed and a court ordered his release

John Blevins led a quiet life after that, first in Holbrook and then in Tucson. He died in a car wreck in 1929.
