Jack Slade got even with Jules Beni.

Jules Beni was a frontiersman who founded Julesburg, Colorado in the 1850s. He was station manager for stages that came through the area–he was also reputed to be an outlaw, robbing some of the very same stages he serviced in Julesburg. The stage lines sent Jack Slade in to clean up the mess and he fired Beni. Jules responded by shooting Slade several times; amazingly, Slade lived. And when he recovered, he caught Beni, tied him to a fence post, and used him as target practice (illustration). Old Jules died on the spot.
