Boone Helm
Boone Helm.

Boone Helm was an ingrate—in addition to being a serial killer, a cannibal, and other bad things.  In the early 1860s, Helm was in a party headed to California. The group bogged down an all died, except for Helm.  Another traveler found him in an Indian camp and took him to civilization at Salt Lake City, providing Helm with food, clothing and transportation.   Helm had an estimated $1400 in coins on him but didn’t bother to pay the man back—or even thank him for saving his life.
