E.D. Nix
E.D. Nix.

Evett Dumas Nix was only 32—and with basically no law enforcement experience—when he was named US Marshal of Oklahoma Territory in 1893.  He led the office during a tumultuous period, when his deputies took down the Doolin Gang.  But nix only served for three years.  In 1896, Nix was fired for allegedly misusing funds.   But later analyses determined that he may have been the victim of a poor system used for paying the deputies.  He returned to the life of a successful businessman in Guthrie.
