The Horrell brothers were raising hell around Lampasas, Texas in 1873.  In January, they shot and killed the county sheriff. On March 19, seven members of the state police tried to arrest the boys at Jerry Scott’s Saloon. Predictably, gunfire ensued, leaving four lawmen dead.  Mart Horrell and three others were soon arrested and jailed, but the rest of the Horrell clan broke them out on May 2. The Horrells soon left Texas and made their way to Lincoln County, New Mexico, where they compiled even more dead bodies.
