Ada lynching
Ada lynching.

Jesse West was a well-to-do businessman and rancher in Texas and Oklahoma.  He and Joe Allen had been partners with Gus Bobbitt in several ventures. But something went wrong, Bobbitt accused the other two of malfeasance, and bad blood arose.  Allen, West and Berry Burrell hired Jim Miller to kill Bobbitt, which was done in April 1909. The four were arrested and then lynched by a mob on April 19. It was reported that West (far right) was the only to fight his executioners; his body was bloody and beaten when cut down later.
