John B Armstrong

John B. Armstrong, on the scene of big arrests.

John B. Armstrong was a remarkable lawman. As a Texas Ranger, he was tasked with controlling the Sutton-Taylor Feud. In August 1877, he and others arrested legendary gunman John Wesley Hardin on a train at Pensacola, Florida. And in July 1878, Armstrong and a squad of Rangers were sent to Round Rock, Texas to head off a robbery by outlaw Sam Bass. Armstrong got there the day after the would-be robbers were shot up by lawmen. But he was present when Bass was discovered and arrested.
