From the days of the dime novels to the cowboys of the silver screen, Arizona has been the setting for numerous classic Western stories and films. While there is not a complete list, some estimate that the number of Westerns that have been filmed in the state runs into the high hundreds, and many classics, including Red River, Gunfight at O.K. Corral, Stagecoach and Once Upon A Time In The Old West were made using Arziona locations. Of course, John Wayne owned not one, but two ranches here, and other legendary Western actors like Ben Johnson, Rex Allen, Tim McCoy and Buster Crabb lived out their lives in the Grand Canyon state.
