Trinidad, Colorado.

Gamblers “Cockeyed” Frank Loving and John Allen had a history.  They’d both been in Dodge City in the late 1870s; they were in Trinidad, Colorado in 1882.  They were at loggerheads over some loan deals. On April 15, they both went for their guns but were stopped by friends.  But things turned violent the next day.

Allen put a bullet in Loving’s back while both were in a hardware store.  Loving died a few days later. Allen was acquitted in the killing and later became a preacher back in Dodge City.
