Yet John Allen got off in the killing of Frank Loving.

Frank Loving and John Allen got into it over some gambling issues in Trinidad, Colorado. The two nearly got into gunfights before they were disarmed. But the anger didn’t go away. On April 16, 1882, the pair were heeled in the Imperial Saloon. Both missed their targets. Loving was disarmed but acquired two more pistols. It didn’t do any good. Allen ambushed Loving, killing him with a shot from behind. John Allen was acquitted of murder charges on the grounds of self-defense.
