H.F. Sills and the OK Corral hearing.

November 22-23, 1881. Defense attorney Thomas Fitch (photo) calls HF Sills to the stand in the OK Corral hearing. A railroad man, Sills came to Tombstone on the day before the fight and witnessed the moments leading up to, during and after the incident. He basically corroborates the lawmen’s story. And since he is an out-of-towner with no connections to either side, Sills’ words carry great weight. There’s little doubt that his testimony–along with that of Wyatt Earp–was key to the verdict delivered a week later.
