A Swarthout-Based Western

The Homesman will be Tommy Lee Jones’s next project, and, like in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Jones will act, produce and direct.

Unlike the last picture, he’ll write this one as well. The story is based on Glendon Swarthout’s same-titled novel; the period film “follows a claim-jumping rascal (Jones) and a frontierswoman as they escort three insane women from Nebraska to Iowa and battle the harsh elemental conditions of the prairie.”
