Since 1986, the National Ceramic Competition has taken place in San Angelo. This year, the juried exhibit will be held from April 8 through June 26, and will feature works from leading ceramic artists and undiscovered new talent from across North America.

As a cooperative event by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Angelo State University, and the Chicken Farm Art Center will hold several events throughout the time of the competition. For a full list of events visit http://www.samfa.org/ceramic-competition.

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts has a rapidly growing collection with 300 works of contemporary ceramics. There are also historical ceramic works from Asia and more than 60 contemporary paintings and sculpture by Texas artists. The collection includes over 100 major works of Spanish Colonial and Mexican religious art.
