George Coe fought as a Regulator during the Lincoln County War, and got something his pal Billy the Kid didn’t—amnesty for his actions.
Coe was one of the men who confronted Andrew “Buckshot” Roberts at Blazer’s Mill on April 4, 1878. Roberts and the Regulators opened up on one another; Buckshot was fatally hurt, but he killed Dick Brewer and wounded several others. George Coe lost his trigger finger in the shootout.
