Tony Hillerman is best known for his novels featuring Navajo crime fighters. Yet The Great Taos Bank Robbery and Other True Stories consists of 17 nonfiction essays that appeared in New Mexico magazines in the 1970s when Hillerman was a graduate student.
Each essay showcases his deep love and understanding of New Mexico’s mountains, people, history, anthropology, law enforcement, hunting, fishing and sometimes politics.
