Real-life working cowhand Leroy Webb teaches a group of youngsters the ways of ranch life and cowboying. The story is told in a straightforward manner, and the lessons are backed up by easy-to-understand illustrations and photographs, as well as “how to” tips, horse color chart, cowboy talk and equine and horse equipment terminology. Nine-year-old Ethan Lageson of Chatsworth, California, says “I had a lot of fun reading Leroy the Cowboy, and I am already using things I learned in the book when I am with my horse Weasel.”
