trouble-hunterNot often does the hunter become the hunted, yet when lawman Walt Durand doggedly trails a missing deputy to the prairie town of Red Cloud, he’s nearly drygulched.

He does find a helpful friendship in hotelier Cal Winston and love from his resolute daughter Ellen. He also finds a dangerous rival in domineering rancher Matt Braden who courts Ellen. After Durand discovers Braden is the killer of the missing deputy and the chief of a horse thief gang, he’s wounded in a sporadic gun battle. Spirited away by Ellen, father and daughter are pursued throughout the night in what may well be a hopeless ride for survival.  This tale’s nonstop action again proves why Fred Grove is a consistently award-winning Western writer.
