Regrettably, cattle have replaced antelope and pollution clouds the air. On the other hand, the Indian “likely no more to return” is resurging through profitable casinos and resorts. The author lacks definitive conclusions for the contrasts she observes, but her personal writing style is thoughtful, and her topics have a wide “range.” —Cynthia Green
